Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson continues to be a factor in his rookie 450cc in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series after finishing round three at Angel Stadium with a seventh-place finish in the main event last Saturday night.

Anderson, the reigning AMA 250cc West Supercross Series Champion has been the brightest of the 250cc stars to enter the 450cc class this season, consistently outperforming fellow 250cc champions such as Dean Wilson and Blake Baggett. At Anaheim, he was all business in his heat as he and his Husqvarna FC 450 advanced from a seventh-place start to a fourth-place finish to transfer directly to the main event. After getting caught behind another rider’s crash at the start of the 20-lap main, Anderson charged through the field to net a seventh-place finish when the checkered flag flew. It wasn’t the result he was hoping for, but it did help him retain third place in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series Point Standings, with 51 points. He is currently 21 points out of the lead and nine points out of second place, but he is five points ahead of the fourth-placed rider, Eli Tomac.

“My night was all right,” Anderson said after the Anaheim II main. “The beginning of the day was good, but when it came to game time I felt like I was up there but just had some unfortunate luck. I’m just going to try and keep moving forward. I feel good, and I just need to keep doing what I’m doing and I’ll be up there.”

Zach Osborne was this week’s fastest 250cc qualifier, and he had another consistent weekend at Angel Stadium, finishing fifth in his heat race to transfer directly to the 15-lap main event. Osborne snagged the holeshot in the main, and he battled in the top five for the entire race, crossing the finish line in fourth place.

“Today was good,” Osborne said. “I had great speed in practice, and did okay tonight, but I had a little issue with my thumb in the heat race. I rode through it in the main. It’s a tough situation, but it’s getting better day by day. I’m headed in the right direction. My bike is good, and my fitness is good. Everything is going well.”

Osborne’s 250cc teammate Zach Bell got a great start in his heat race and netted a sixth-place finish to transfer directly into the main event. Bell was battling an injury stemming from an incident that occurred during his qualifying race, but he through the pain to finish 19th.

“Practice went well,” said Bell, “I just rolled my ankle [during qualifying]. I had a good start in the main event but had an incident with another rider, which put me in the back. It’s hard to do well when you’re fighting from the back. I look forward to showing everyone what I can do next weekend.”
The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series heads to O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California, for round four of the series on Saturday, January 24.
