TRIUMPH RACING MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Triumph Motorcycles confirms plans to compete in the prestigious FIM Motocross World Championship in 2024, with a factory supported race program under an all-new Triumph Racing banner.

This landmark new Triumph Racing Team has been set-up in partnership with Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni, one of the sport’s most experienced and successful team owners, who will field two of Triumph’s all-new 250cc 4-stroke MX bikes in the 2024 MX2 class and will add an entry into the 450cc MXGP class in 2025.

Under the new Triumph Racing banner, which will now cover all of Triumph’s racing-related activities including Moto2 and Supersport racing, the partnership between Triumph and Thierry will encompass his well established and highly successful team structure and facilities. Further emphasizing the ambition and commitment to win central to this new partnership, Triumph is also pleased to announce that his long-standing Team Manager, Vincent Bereni, will continue leading the team with a full crew of highly experienced technical staff, all focused on bringing Triumph to the pinnacle of motocross racing performance.

The new long-term partnership between Triumph and Thierry reflects a shared goal and commitment to build depth and success into Triumph Racing’s approach to competition. As a part of Triumph Racing’s portfolio of commitments, Thierry and Vincent’s team will focus on the FIM Motocross World Championship – in MX2 and MXGP, together with development of technology and talent to build Triumph’s future strength in international motocross racing.

Thierry and Vincent’s past racing record speaks for itself – with over 80 MXGP World Championship victories and a huge reputation for technical and preparation excellence. Backed by Triumph’s in-house motocross design engineering department, which is responsible for the concept and development of its all-new MX and Enduro motorcycle range, Triumph Racing is committed to building its resources and performance capability with world-class knowledge and experience.

Triumph Racing is based at Triumph’s Global Headquarters in Hinckley, UK, where the brand’s research, design, engineering development and prototype build are located, and the Motocross World Championship team will be based at Thierry’s race facility near Eindhoven in Holland, where race team personnel, operations and competition development will be housed. Engineering groups at the Triumph factory and the race team are working closely together on continuously enhancing chassis and engine performance through an intensive testing schedule underway in the USA, UK, and mainland Europe, building towards the first MX2 Grand Prix of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship.

Testing of the new Triumph motocross and enduro bikes is well underway and information on the specifications, performance characteristics, and components of each model will be released in due course, along with more news on Triumph Racing’s entry into further top-tier Championships and categories.

Nick Bloor – CEO, Triumph:
“Our new partnership with Thierry demonstrates Triumph’s long-term commitment to competing at the highest levels of racing. We share a passion for delivering world-class performance, and the experience Thierry and his team bring will prove invaluable in our ambition to make our mark on a very competitive championship. Our entry into the FIM Motocross World Championship with a Factory supported Triumph Racing team signifies a landmark moment at the beginning of our new top-tier off-road racing campaign”.

Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni – Triumph Racing Team Owner (MX2 and MXGP):
“Triumph have made a major commitment to build an MX bike and go racing in the FIM World Motocross Championship. I am happy that my team is going to be the official Triumph Racing Team in MX2 and MXGP. Nick Bloor and the Triumph Board of Directors have made their long-term ambitions for the project very clear and I see a huge amount of passion from everyone at the Factory. I am happy with progress on the bike, it looks great, has speed on the track and Vincent and my staff are working with the engineers at Hinckley on building it into a competitive package for entry into the MX2 Championship in 2024. MXGP continues to grow around the world, I am very happy to be back and looking forward to going racing with Triumph”.

David Luongo – CEO, Infront Moto Racing:
“It is a great news! Probably one the most important in recent years. Infront Moto Racing will welcome a new manufacturer in the MX2 and MXGP World Championship. We are talking about one of the most emblematic motorcycle brands in the world. Triumph will join our championship from 2024 with a full program in MX2 and MXGP categories. This is a very important announcement and is a fantastic sign about the interest and the importance of MXGP in the international motorsport scene. During the last 20 years, MXGP has been growing and has established globally. With an average of 19 events per year, it gives the best platform for manufacturers to develop their bikes, components and to advertise them worldwide. From Asia to South America, going through Europe, MXGP is covering all the different markets and is touching most of the off-road fans in the world. It is with a great pride and excitement that we welcome Triumph to MXGP and we wish them a lot of success in the years to come and a great competition with the other Factory Teams already present!”

Jeremy Appleton – Global Racing Manager, Triumph:
“The launch of Triumph Racing is a pivotal step in our journey to bring Triumph to the pinnacle of racing across an even wider range of disciplines. Building on Triumph’s success as the sole engine supplier to the Moto2 World Championship and our participation in Supersport racing, the move into MX2 and MXGP opens the door on a strategically important new chapter in top-tier off-road racing. We well know the demands of World Championship competition and that is the reason for forming the partnership with Thierry. Together with Vincent, their approach to racing and development of performance is impressive and we are looking forward to building the project together and adding to the success that they have already achieved in the Motocross World Championship”

Ricky Carmichael – Global Off-Road Ambassador, Triumph:
“I’m really excited about today’s news. It’s been a long time coming. Since the start of this project with Triumph, I have been amazed at just how hard everyone has been working. It must not go without mentioning, the whole R&D and engineering group that have been a part of the development of the motorcycles have done an absolutely incredible job. From the first stages of the prototypes, I was really taken back at how well the performance was, since then, being in the UK testing the newest developments, I can tell you that it has the capabilities of winning at the highest level and I personally believe the riders, from professional to amateur, across the entire range of off-road models, will really like what has been developed!”

Motocross of Nations

AMA Congratulates Team USA riders Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton and Justin Cooper, and team manager Roger DeCoster

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — America is once again the motocross capital of the world. Team USA reclaimed the Chamberlain Trophy, which the United States last won in 2011, when riders Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton and Justin Cooper, led by team manager Roger DeCoster, triumphed at the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme’s Motocross of Nations at Red Bud Track ’N’ Trail in Buchanan, Mich., on Sept. 25.

“This Motocross of Nations was a perfect demonstration of the success that comes from having the right people — motivated and talented people — in the right positions, from our team coordinators to the riders themselves to our team manager,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “Congratulations to all who contributed to this effort, and particularly Eli, Chase and Justin, who rode exceptionally well and demonstrated the utmost professionalism while representing America.”

Tomac, Sexton and Cooper defeated teams from 31 countries and two FIM Continental Unions en route to the historic win.

The FIM Motocross of Nations features teams of riders in three classifications: MXGP, MX2 and Open. Racing takes place in three motos. One includes MXGP and MX2 riders; one includes MX2 and Open riders; and one includes MXGP and Open riders. Each team’s rider is scored based on where they finished in the combined motos. Those scores are tallied to determine the winning team.

Tomac finished 1-6 in the MXGP class. Sexton finished 2-3 in the Open class. And Cooper finished 9-4 in the MX2 class. Cooper’s result, the best in the MX2 class, earned him the individual championship in that event.

“When we’re on top of that podium, there is nothing like it,” said Tomac, the Team USA captain. “The whole motocross community comes together for this event. I’ve been on the top of the podium before, but this takes the cake. I will never forget that moment. It will stay with me forever.”

The Motocross of Nations teams are selected by the national federations affiliated with the FIM in each participating country. In the United States, that’s the American Motorcyclist Association. AMA Director of Racing Mike Pelletier runs the AMA effort to select, organize, support and help fund the team.

“The cooperation this year was off the charts,” Pelletier said. “Of course, the riders’ teams themselves, which included Star Yamaha and Team Honda, were behind this effort 100 percent. We also had help from industry partners, such as Feld Entertainment, Alpinestars and Monster Energy, as well as other individuals and groups such as Paul Perebijnos, who organized a golf fundraiser, FMF, who produced fundraising t-shirts, and the family of the late Tom White, who held a fundraiser at Tom’s Early Years of Motocross Museum. The AMA can’t thank these partners enough for supporting this championship-winning campaign.”

Dingman added that the U.S. effort would not be the same without its most important volunteer: AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Legend Roger DeCoster.

“Roger gives his all to this event,” Dingman said. “His experience and leadership help in ways that can’t be quantified. We appreciate his work and the support of his employer, KTM North America, which allows Roger to be a part of this effort every year.”

Dingman added: “It’s an honor to have the support of so many stakeholders at this event. All year these teams and companies compete against one another on the track and through their support of individual riders. Here, we are one team, Team USA, and I’m proud to say, today we are definitively the best motocross team in the world.”

Dunlop's Geomax MX14

Rancho Cucamonga, CA –July 6, 2022 : Dunlop is pleased to announce their all-new sand/mud terrain tire: The Geomax MX14.

Created as the successor to the Geomax MX12, the MX14 has a new pattern with reduced scoop block spacing and 18% taller tread blocks to ensure optimum grip for riders. Additionally, it has an improved rubber compound to increase tire strength and reduce flex, providing traction on straights and corner exits.

The Geomax line of tires has been the industry standard for years. Dunlop engineers have continued to evolve the Geomax series, with the MX14 being the latest result of Dunlop’s ongoing development.

The rear MX14 is designed for soft-terrain applications and to excel in extreme sand and mud conditions. Dunlop’s goal with this tire was to increase straight line drive without sacrificing cornering performance.

For the MX14, Dunlop relied on top AMA Pro racers, top MXGP racers, Team Dunlop Elite amateur riders, and the testing team at the Dunlop Proving Grounds in Huntsville, Alabama. The efforts of these individuals developed the tire on tracks in the United States and Europe, including some of Europe’s “bottomless sand” tracks on the World MX Championship schedule.

The MX14 offers increased cornering grip, slide control, start performance, shock absorption, and braking grip, with enhanced handling in deep sand/mud and even in hard-based sand/mud.

Technology:
  • New Profile and Pattern that increases block height 18% taller than the MX12. Narrower block spacing distribution improves the sand/mud “scoop/paddle” effect, equating to increased dive-grip/traction and improved braking performance and slide control.
  • Reinforced Scoop Technology (RST) results in a 23% increase in contact area over the MX12 to greatly improve traction/drive-grip through increased amounts of terrain being scooped.
  • Advanced V-Block Technology (V-BT Advanced) is an optimized tread design and block angles for improved “scoop/paddle” effect and enhanced block angles for improved slide control at camber. These increase sand/mud penetration and “scooping effect.”
  • New Flexible Fins Technology (FFT) where the crown and middle blocks have thin fins for flexible movement on the rear braking side to increase the tire footprint for additional control.
  • High-Resilience rubber compound (H-RRC) and stiffer carcass create improved traction and performance through less knob flex under load.

The MX14 takes Dunlop’s Geomax line to a new level for a wide range of riders, from amateur to professional. Available in 8 sizes to provide fitment from minis to big bikes.

Hot Wheels and Fasthouse. How could you not be stoked about this collab!

Begin Press Release:

A CELEBRATION OF ACCELERATION

At the crossroads of high speed and good times, you’ll find the timeless cool of the Southern California motocross community. We pay tribute to tradition with the new Fasthouse x Hot Wheels capsule collection.

In 1968 when Hot Wheels was born, it became the toy that would spark the passion of generations of gear heads, forever ingrained in the memories of their youth. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that 1968 was also the year Kenny Alexander was tossed a hand-made jersey from his grandma under the roof of what became the inspiration for Fasthouse – where some of the fastest racers from the desert racing scene and later from the legendary Indian Dunes would gather to tell war stories and grab race jerseys and vests made the old-fashioned way.

Fast forward to the present day and both iconic brands have joined forces to create a product line for the tight-knit community of dirt bike lovers, young and old alike. And to continue kickstarting the hearts of the next generation, Hot Wheels and Fasthouse teamed up to select a crew of young rockstars that embody the spirit of speed, style, and good times that those who grew up riding remember so fondly. This is the FH X Hot Wheels youth crew, and it was on full display at the recent 2021 Day In the Dirt.

Also founded by Kenny Alexander, Day in the Dirt is something special that taps into the spirit of Hot Wheels. What started as a one-day event in 1998 has turned into what some people call the “MX Woodstock”. It’s a gathering of family and friends and what they love most – dirt bikes.  It attracts the greats, the near-greats and the not-so-greats, but also the Hollywood stunt community and moto fanatics worldwide. It’s a gathering for everyone, and a big part of that community is the stoked-out kids. Since the debut of the FH x Hot Wheels youth crew out at Mammoth MX back in June, there has been a buzz about this one of kind collaboration. The vibe out at Day in the Dirt was no different. The Hot Wheels youth crew hit the scene, ready to ride and just have a good time.

“Day in the dirt has always been a special race for the Grant family, it was extra special to me this year having all our Hot Wheels groms there representing what the race is really all about… having fun, looking good, and spreading good vibes,” said Josh Grant. “I really liked that Fasthouse brought Moto 4 Kids in to organize racing for the younger generations and get them involved the funnest race of the year.”

Day in the Dirt isn’t all about podium finishes, it’s really about racing with your friends and making long time memories. The FH x Hot Wheels youth crew did just that, paired with cool style that the whole community felt a part of. From the race track to the campsites these young rippers were spreading the message of speed, style, and good times. The new FH x Hot Wheels casual collection embodies this lifestyle with its assortment of beanies, T-shirts, hoodies and more in classic SoCal style; with something for everyone to keep warm in the pits, shielded from the sun on a hot track day or just repping your love of two wheel culture around town.

“I love seeing the FH x Hot wheels crew living life and tearing it up, It puts a smile on my face, said Kenny Alexander, Founder of Fasthouse. “Looking forward to the next one!”

As for the product line, this is just the beginning. Coming in 2022, look out for some awesome riding gear to accompany the recent casual apparel drop.

A street-legal trials tire? The Dunlop K950 sounds like an interesting proposition.

Begin Press Release:

Dunlop introduces the street-legal trials tire: the K950

Rancho Cucamonga, CA: Dunlop Motorcycle Tires has expanded its off-road tire line to include the new DOT-approved K950 trials tire.

Trials tires are popular among off-road riders who also enjoy a dose of pavement on their rides, and for that the street-legal trials tire, the K950 is ideal. The K950 delivers the kind of performance trials riders and off-road enthusiasts are looking for, with additional durability and on-road capability.

The K950 features bias-ply construction, and compounds and tread pattern designed to tackle tough single-track terrain and challenging conditions. In both wet and dry conditions, the K950 excels when the course or trail turns hard-packed, rocky, or littered with tree roots.

For dual-sport riding, the K950 provides a smoother ride and longer wear than a traditional knobby tire on the street, while providing a high level of grip and bump-absorbing compliance in the dirt.

Available from your local Dunlop retailer, the Dunlop K950 comes in a 4.00-18 size and joins the premium-performance D803GP™, Dunlop’s competition trials tire.

The team is led and owned by Jennifer Emig (CEO), Ken Faught (President), Mark Kariya (V.P. Special Events), Destry Abbott (off-road legend), Grant Langston (former AMA/FIM Motocross Champ turned TV commentator), Vanessa Doleshal (V.P. “There are a lot of fun tours around the world, but nothing that really caters to the ultra-high-end rider,” said Jennifer Emig. “Park City 2021 – the Legend’s Ride, will be based out of a house that is nearly 30,000 square feet. Every rider will have their own bedroom, private restroom and all the amenities that you would expect from a world-class tour. There is an indoor swimming pool, and some of the most-fun riding found anywhere in the country. We will have a private chef for some of the meals, celebrity riders that will be announced soon, and the ride will explore beautiful parts of Utah. There will be a wide variety of activities, world-class bench racing, and a few surprises.”

“I have had a lot of cool experiences in my life and off-road motorcycle tours have always been among my favorite,” said Ken Faught. “We tried to take the absolute best of all the tours that we have experienced and combine them into one exotic adventure.”

“There is nothing else out there like this,” said Destry Abbott. “I have done rides all over, and our concept is really high-end. This isn’t the gnarly type of riding. Sure, there will be some technical stuff, but we are focusing on creating an overall amazing experience, and will have a mix of single-track, two-track, and public roads.”

“Those involved in Speed & Sport Adventures have a lot of real history in the off-road industry. No doubt their tours will be exceptional.” Said Roger De Coster, 5-Time World Motocross Champ/Legendary Team Manager

“Mark, Destry and Ken are some of the most-dedicated people in the sport,” said 4-time Grammy winner Lyle Lovett.

“I have known most of the staff for over 25 years and they are legit. Good times await,” said AMA Motocross/Supercross Champion/Motocross des Nations winner Jeff Ward.

Speed & Sport Adventures is only accepting 9 riders for Park City 2021 – The Legend’s Ride – and the cost is $9850 per person, and riders must be 21 years or older. Riders are encouraged to bring their own bikes, but Speed & Sport Adventures also has a fleet of KTM 350 and 500 EXC-Fs for rent. The company will also help arrange private jet service, helicopter pickup from the airport, and/or exotic car rental for an extra fee. A complete itinerary is available on the company’s website.

After being impressed with Klim’s Viper goggle, we’re excited for the all-new Edge off-road goggle.

Begin Press Release:

KLIM’S NEW EDGE OFF-ROAD GOGGLE

KLIM is releasing the all-new Edge Off-Road Goggle, topping off their line of optics with this sleek, fameless design for 2021. The Edge is an exciting addition to KLIM’s lineup of dirt bike goggles, loaded with premium features including a huge field of view, great comfort, and magnetic + quick release lens replacement.

KLIM developed the Edge entirely from the ground up, building on years of feedback and testing while making goggles – both for snowmobile and motorcycle riders.

Klim edge

To achieve maximum field of view, the Edge uses a fameless design where low profile magnets guide the lens into place while a slide lock secures it – this makes the lens area as broad as possible while fitting inside a helmet. Further, the injection-molded lens is almost perfectly optically correct, avoiding distortions found in other lens types. Anti-fog coating, perimeter frame vents and the large internal air volume all combat fogging, which is great for extreme enduro riders and warm, humid conditions.

With an ANSI Z87.1 impact safety rating, the anti-scratch Edge lens also stands up to trail debris and roost on the track far better than “sheet” type lenses found in other goggles. The magnetic + slide lock retention system makes for quick lens swaps in changing light conditions.

Klim edge

KLIM took extra care engineering all the comfort features on the Edge. The two-part frame uses a firmer material around the lens and outriggers for structural support, while the inner part is more flexible for comfort against the face. Multi-layer chamfered foam creates more comfortable pressure distribution on the face and sweat control to help keep your eyes clear. A debossed nose area also allows for uniform sealing without pressure that restricts breathing. Another welcome feature is over-the-glasses (OTG) compatibility with frame cutouts that make it easy to wear glasses underneath the goggles.

KLIM continues solidifying their place with top shelf off-road riding gear and helmets, and now promises to do the same with the new Edge Off-Road Goggle.
